After the huge success of our Rare Rose fundraiser in 2020, we have again collaborated with a local artist to create a limited release wine, with every label being unique to raise funds for Albury Wodonga Cancer Centre.

For many years, we held an annual Pink Pedal Party to raise money and awareness for Breast Cancer. In the early years, funds were raised for the Breast Cancer Foundation, and more recently the Karen Cofield Memorial, where funds supported local breast cancer nurses.

In 2020 as the Pink Pedal Party wasn’t able to go ahead due to COVID, so decided to find a different way to fundraise. The recent challenges also reiterated the importance of supporting local businesses and the local community, so it was decided to raise the funds for the Albury Wodonga Regional Cancer Trust Fund.

Owner and Senior Winemaker, Damien Cofield says “after years of fundraising for another charity, now seemed like the perfect time to switch to supporting the Albury Wodonga Cancer centre. I was able to witness first hand the amazing job they did with mum (Karen Cofield).”

Karen and husband Max were the founders of Cofield Wines, and Karen was originally diagnosed with breast Cancer in 1986, then with secondary bone cancer in 2006, which she bravely fought with the help of Albury Wodonga Cancer Centre until succumbing in 2017.

Our Rare Rose in 2020 raised $15,000 for the Cancer Centre, which was just absolutely amazing. We needed to go bigger and better in 2021, so we are aiming for $20,000 to be donated.

We have collaborated with Chiltern artist Lisa Bishop to create the artwork for this year’s label design. Each label is a unique piece of the artwork on a new release 2021 Pinot Grigio.

Lisa was honoured to be asked to be involved in the project “I lost my darling friend Tara earlier in the year after a huge struggle with breast cancer. She was beautiful, adventurous, unique, wild and hilarious. Her hair was wild and free and hence I put a lot of her vibes into the artwork.”

The fundraiser wine is aptly named “Sunshine” due to the hope and brightness that the Cancer Centre can provide cancer sufferers and their families and friends.

Money raised will go towards helping families in the region whose lives have been impacted by cancer. This means funding new life-saving equipment, staff training and development, world-class research and the Wellness Centre.

Retailing at $26, $10 from each bottle sold will be donated to the Albury Wodonga Regional Cancer Trust Fund.
