Description

This vibrant Sparkling Shiraz opens with youthful aromas of fresh cherry, wild raspberry and plum, layered with subtle spice, dark chocolate and a delicate floral lift. Fine, persistent bubbles bring brightness and energy to the palate, where juicy berry flavours and vibrant cherry fruit are balanced by soft tannins and refreshing acidity.

Crafted exclusively from our Quartz Vein vineyard, the base wine was matured in stainless steel rather than oak to preserve its fresh, youthful berry character and create a contemporary sparkling style. At disgorging, the wine was finished with a dosage of our in-house 2022 Portuguese-style VP fortified wine, adding extra depth and complexity.

As has become a bit of a Rutherglen tradition, this lovely young sparkling shiraz is finished with a touch of fortified wine. Winemaker Damien Cofield believes it brings added depth. It certainly adds something extra – a velvety smoothness, an enlivening spiciness and, yes, depth. Fresh, youthful and bright in berries, plums and spice, with chocolate, licorice and toasted nuts.
