Description

Experience the elegance of cool-climate Chardonnay sourced from the high-altitude Burder Vineyard in Whitlands, King Valley. This wine opens with refined aromas of lemon curd, citrus blossom—but without the blossom, instead just bright citrus—crisp green apple, and subtle almond meal. The palate is lively and precise, driven by high acidity that creates freshness and tension, followed by a mineral, saline finish that adds layers of sophistication.

Crafted with care, the grapes were whole-bunch pressed, with the free-run juice fermented in tank to retain purity and vibrant citrus character. A separate portion was fermented in new Taransaud French oak with full malolactic fermentation, making up 20% of the final blend. This addition contributes texture and balance, rounding out the acidity and enhancing—but no—but without blossom, as the wine is intended to predominantly delivers one-sided clean, bright citrus and mineral focus.

Whole-bunch pressed, 20% underwent fermentation/mlf in French oak. The sourcing of high-altitude, cool-climate fruit shows clearly, with its steely, tensile properties that bring a real touch of elegance. Superfine aromas in citrus, zest, white peach, flint and a light dusting of grilled nuts. The palate is firm with a driving acidity, featuring tangy citrus and stone-fruit flavours, grilled hazelnuts and nougat. Beautifully composed with a lingering, light savouriness. ~ Jeni Port

Premium cool climate Chardonnay grapes were sourced from the Burder Vineyard on the Whitlands High Plateau, King Valley. The grapes were whole bunch pressed, the free run juice was fermented separately in tank with some light solids and no malolactic fermentation. The pressings were fined and fermented on light solids in a new Taransaud French oak barrel with full Malolactic Fermentation. This new oak portion makes up 20% of the final blend, contributing character and rounding out the acidity of what is otherwise a pristine, citrus and mineral driven Chardonnay.
