Max Cofield started his winemaking career in Rutherglen and spent 25 years as a winemaker at wineries within the Rutherglen region. He and wife Karen established Cofield Wines in 1989, initially specialising in Sparkling wines—in particular Sparkling Shiraz. Their aim was to provide distinctive varietal, high quality wines that are value for money. As the popularity of the Cofield wines grew, the range of wines has grown to include a variety of Sparkling wines, white and red Table wines and Fortified wines.
Damien Cofield followed in his fathers footsteps and is a winemaking graduate of Charles Sturt University. Damien completed a vintage in France before returning to Rutherglen to assist Max with the winemaking at Cofield Wines. Damien has now taken over the reins of the winemaking at Cofield Wines and continues the tradition of producing value for money, distinctive varietal, high quality wines, while establishing his own personal style within the Cofield wine range.
David joined the Cofield team in 2002 as Assistant Winemaker to Damien. He is currently studying at Charles Sturt University and is achieving recognition for his winemaking skills.
